First things first, the Leroy of Leroy’s is William Browne’s beloved family Boxador (a cross between a boxer and a Labrador), who died a few months ago.
According to William, Leroy was a king amongst dogs (Leroy “le roi”) and quite the gourmand. (Lab and retriever owners will know only too well their propensity to steal food. In my own kitchen, it can sometimes feel as if there is an opportunistic shark circling the table, and we still talk about the time Marley swiped a €30 piece of Crozier Blue off the table from under the nose of a guest who was not paying attention).
