Correspondent JEWETT The Custer Memorial Association is making plans for its annual June observance and preparing the museum and monument grounds for the upcoming spring, summer and autumn seasons. The museum will be open on the last Sunday of April through September from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Masks will be necessary as directed and practicing social distancing will be necessary. If there are visitors at one section of the room, guests will be asked to advance to another display until the desired area is free of visitors, according to David Rose, president. Harrison receives bids for renovation project | News, Sports, Jobs

Staff Writer CADIZ An upcoming renovation project in the former engineer’s office inside the Harrison County Courthouse received bids from multiple contractors last week. Commissioners Paul Coffland, Don Bethel and Dale Norris opened five bids for the impending project during their weekly meeting. The project will relocate the adult probation offices to the former engineer’s office, Coffland said. “We’re going to be developing a new probation department office in the courthouse in the former engineer’s office. … The space is existing in the courthouse but will be renovated and turned into individual offices and some training classroom area for probationary and a separate waiting room,” he said.

Harrison secures funding for paving of Conotton Creek Trail | News, Sports, Jobs

Staff Writer CADIZ Harrison County secured nearly $1 million in funding for a county trail improvement project that is set to get underway later this year. The county hopes to begin paving the Conotton Creek Trail by the end of September now that it is eligible to receive up to $950,000 in Ohio Department of Transportation funding. The Harrison County Board of Commissioners signed an agreement between the county and ODOT for the federal funding during Wednesday’s regular meeting. The agreement states that ODOT will pay 95 percent of the eligible costs for the estimated $1,020,968 project while the county will be responsible for the remaining cost.
