West Virginia Senate President Craig Blair was one of four Republican Senate incumbents unseated in Tuesday May 14 2024 night's primary election, according to unofficial results from the Secretary of State's Office.
Blair’s loss marks the second time since 2020 that a Senate president failed to dominate his primary. Just four years ago, Senate Amy Grady, R-Mason beat Senate President Mitch Carmichael.
In addition to Blair, the Republican-dominated Senate will be without Mike Maroney, R-Marshall; Chandler Swope, R-Mercer; and Robert Karnes, R-Randolph, when the 2025 regular session begins.
