Last week, the Georgia General Assembly wrapped up its work under the Gold Dome in Atlanta. Late Thursday night, lawmakers passed the state budget. A little piece of that – if it’s signed into law by Gov. Brian Kemp – will be coming to Columbus to fight a growing criminal street gang problem. In the context of a $36 billion state budget, $5 million doesn’t sound like a lot of money. That’s what the State of Georgia will be spending to stand up a GBI unit and a prosecutor out of the Attorney General’s Office.
