Hall of Famer Don Sutton has passed away at the age of 75. The sad news was confirmed by his son, Daron Sutton, who stated that the baseball legend died peacefully in his sleep. "Saddened to share that my dad passed away in his sleep last night. He worked as hard as anyone Ive ever known and he treated those he encountered with great respect...and he took me to work a lot. For all these things, I am very grateful. Rest In Peace," Daron tweeted alongside a series of throwback photos of his dad...

By Spencer Graves Jan 20, 2021 While Don Sutton never put on a Braves uniform during his playing career, he was instrumental in the franchises history. Photo by Mark Cunningham/MLB Photos via Getty Images Upon the news that a second Dodgers Hall of Famer had died this month, lots of folks remembered Don Sutton for both his 23-year playing career and three decades as a broadcaster, the bulk of the latter for the Braves. “There are Hall of Famers immortalized for their prodigious slugging and for the lightning in their arms, and there are plenty celebrated for their popularity, but perhaps none are more relatable to fans than Sutton: He showed...

January 12, 2021 On the heels of a year in which a record seven Hall of Famers died, the baseball world couldn’t get a full week into 2021 without losing another. Tommy Lasorda, the charismatic and voluble manager who piloted the Dodgers to four National League pennants and two championships during a run of 19 full seasons (1977-95) and two partial ones, died of cardiopulmonary arrest on January 7. The 93-year-old Lasorda had returned home earlier in the week after being hospitalized since m...

Tommy Lasorda’s body began to fail him in recent months, but his passion for the Dodgers never wavered. The man who always claimed he bled Dodger blue out of loyalty to the organization had one last mission to accomplish, one more triumphant moment to experience. He was granted that moment in October, when the Dodgers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays to win the World Series — their first championship since he guided them to the title in 1988. “He willed himself to live this long and to watch t...

December 30, 2020 Of the thousands of pitchers who have reached the majors, fewer than a hundred mastered the knuckleball — that maddeningly erratic, spin-free butterfly — well enough to rely upon it as their primary pitch. None of them succeeded to the extent that Phil Niekro did. “Knucksie” learned the pitch from his father, a coal miner and semiprofessional hurler, at the age of eight, and while he didn’t establish himself as a big league starter for another 20 years, he carved out...

By Michael Lingard Dec 21, 2020 Army Head Football Coach, Jeff Monken joins Dan Patrick on The Dan Patrick Show. He opens up with a great story about meeting Don Sutton and a life lesson that has served him well over the years. He addresses the bowl selections and exactly how he feels about being snubbed while many who were clamoring to play football during the pandemic are now opting out of bowl games entirely. And he talks about the sense of duty, honor and bravery on his squad and how they ...

Photo by Cooper Neill/MLB Photos via Getty Images We’ve reached the end of our 2020 Dodgers player reviews, 44 in all. The last player on the list is the one who has meant more to the franchise than anyone this century. Clayton Kershaw, the future Hall of Famer, got the championship monkey off his back in 2020, finally getting to bask in October glory. “He’s one of the best teammates I’ve been with, one of the most fierce competitors when he steps on that mound,” said Mookie Betts. ...
