Donna Gordon of Coal City 1949 - 2021

Donna Gordon Age 71 of Coal City, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Born October 2, 1949 in Kankakee, Donna Kay was a daughter of Donald Joseph and Delores Irene (Bertino) Vacca. She was raised and educated in Coal City and graduated from Coal City High School with the Class of 1967. Donna worked at First National Bank of Joliet for many years as a secretary. She then worked as a clerk at the Exelon Production Training Center, in addition to working at Don’s Beer Store in Coal City. Donna was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City, and loved to travel all over the county and internationally. She enjoyed playing card games and dominoes, and loved her cats and cat memorabilia. Most of all, Donna loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Age 63 of Coal City, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2021 at her home. Born October 22, 1957 in Joliet, Illinois, Carla Jean was a daughter of Donald Joseph and Delores Irene (Bertino) Vacca. She attended St. John’s School for the Deaf in Wisconsin, and went on to graduate from Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. Carla worked in the Trust Department at Union National Bank in Joliet before relocating to the east coast. For most of her career, she worked as a civilian for the United States Army, as well as the United States Navy in the Shipyards in Pennsylvania until her retirement. Following the passing of her mother, Carla relocated back to Coal City, where she enjoyed spending time crafting and crocheting.

John J Vacca of Coal City 1951-2021

Age 69 of Coal City, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2021 at his home. Born November 27, 1951, John James was the son of Donald Joseph and Delores Irene (Bertino) Vacca. He was raised in Coal City; graduated from Coal City High School with the Class of 1969, and went on to attend Joliet Junior College. John had a lifelong passion and remained active with The Boy Scouts, having just received his 60 year pin. In addition to collecting Boy Scout memorabilia, John loved his cars; was extremely meticulous, and enjoyed attending car shows.  He was also took great pleasure in local history, and volunteered at both the Ottawa Historical and Scouting Heritage Museum, as well as at the Carbon Hill School Museum.
