Roxann Martinez, 31, was shot and killed Thursday, Feb. 25 at 11 p.m. in Denver, the Denver Medical Examiner confirmed Tuesday. According to Pueblo County District Attorney Jeff Chostner, the woman was a witness in the ongoing murder trial against Donthe Lucas concerning the disappearance and likely death of his then 21-year-old girlfriend, Kelsie Schelling. Martinez had not taken the stand prior to her death. Martinez was shot at the intersection of E. Kenyon Drive and S. Wabash Street, which is located in the Hampden South neighborhood. According to a statement from Denver Police on Wednesday, investigators are aware of her connection to that trial, but at this time do not think her death is connected to that case.
