Means? >> yes. mr. ledgerwood has worked very hard and he has shared with us via e-mail his various thoughts. we appreciate them. i shared with him yesterday that we were certain we were right with the southern route rather than the northern route. the doppler shift, in very simple terms, is the way in which we see the effect of the slight movement of the satellite in space relative to the aircraft and from that proses, the compression or an expansion of the wave length, you can know whether the...

Or outside the circle. thats the doppler effect. ill take you to what i believe the doppler effect is especially for the first ping. we say 2:11. within a couple hundred miles. the plane was flying inside the ring which means it was getting closer to the satellite itself. so this is doppler radar. we use doppler radar to know this is tuscaloosas tornado. is th this is moving this way by doppler shift. we knew at the time there was a tornado on the ground right there at tuscaloosa. where else can...

How does science play in this investigation? >> well, weve certainly seen a lot of science displayed, whether the doppler shift on the satellite handshake operation, clearly we dont -- this is still reported and not confirmed, so i guess youd say were cautiously optimistic. but obviously science is going to play a big factor especially if it does turn out to be correct as we get the black boxes up. >> and if that does happen, where to next? >> well, i think the sequence it will go, and it probab...

From the airline. as you can imagine, they are still in creditably angry. protesting outside beijing accusing the airline and malaysian government of cheating them. the u.s. navy sending specialized ping locater which detects signals from a black box that stretch an average of two mimes. lieutenant colonel kay served as adviser for britains ministry and part of krarg investigations. hes my guest today. we heard about this satellite doppler company. they are the ones who have been able to pretty ...

Provides the classic aero satellite system. that is the interface between the jet and the acars. that provides position, altitude heading and speed. the acars was switched off. what we know about is these pings. yesterday were talking about these handshakes. they come in the form of a microwave. its all about doppler shift. >> explain this. >> what we can say is if the plane is moving away from the inmarsat satellite, you get this elongated wave. if its moving toward the satellite, you get this ...
