If successful, it could become a template to ward off Earth-bound asteroids.

NASA has said that its DART team has confirmed the orbit of the asteroid Dimorphos, locking in the trajectory of the DART spacecraft thats ready for colli.

In a few weeks, NASA will test a plan called DART to see if it can redirect the path of an asteroid, and the public is invited to watch it.

The Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) was launched last November ahead of a year-long journey to crash into the small asteroid Dimorphos, which orbits a larger one called Didymos.

NASAs DART spacecraft is perfectly on track to smash into double asteroid Didymos as a new observation campaign confirmed orbital parameters of the space rock.

A massive airplane-sized asteroid is coming towards Earth and may reach the planet today. Asteroids are rocky fragments left over from the formation of the solar system.

None of the asteroids visiting earth in a span of 4 days are a threat to earth.

In one month, NASAs DART mission will impact the asteroid Dimorphos in an attempt to alter the celestial bodys trajectory. The mission is the worlds first planetary defense test — the mission is
