If you surfed the web this morning, you may have seen news of the latest existential threat to humanity: a “planet killer” asteroid named 2022 AP7. Luckily for us 2022 AP7 “has no chance to hit

Astronomers have found three near-Earth asteroids in an elusive area of our solar system near the orbit of Venus. Some are colossal "planet-killer"-size space rocks. But none are an imminent threat to our planet.

Detecting the threat of near-Earth objects that could cause grave harm is a primary focus of NASA and other space organizations around the world.

Asteroids of this size are big enough to cause mass extinction events.

A mass extinction event isnt on the cards, according to astronomers.

According to astronomers, its not as apocalyptic as it sounds.

The image depicts the massive asteroid one day before it zoomed past Earth at over 52,000 miles per hour.

Asteroid 2022 AP7 is the largest object potentially hazardous to Earth to have been discovered in the last eight years, say researchers.
