A Superior man faces a felony charge for firing a shot in the bar, and a second man who drew a gun but didn't fire during the incident is facing a misdemeanor charge.
Colton James Lurye, 28, pleaded no contest to one count of first-degree reckless homicide on Feb. 11. Pills he sold led to the death of a St. Louis County man, according to the criminal complaint.

An April 21 traffic stop resulted in five felony charges against Billy John Kimmes, 47, of Superior.
Kimmes is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon; possession of methamphetamine; solicitation of harboring or aiding a felon; and two counts of bail jumping.
According to the criminal complaint, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Detective Ed Gallagher stopped a vehicle driven by Kimmes on Tower Avenue in Superior. Gallagher observed a handgun in plain view under the front passenger seat.

The Superior woman died June 11 at age 36 from an overdose caused by the combined effect of fentanyl and ethanol. A Duluth man, Jeffery Paul Linder, has been charged with first-degree reckless homicide for allegedly providing her with the fentanyl.
