She was arrested numerous times for civil disobedience in her attempt to bring attention to the dangers of ongoing wars and the production of nuclear weapons and cluster bombs.
Community members wrote messages â such as Have a bright future â on the sidewalks of Main Street for the Kutztown Class of 2021 at Chalk the Walk on graduation day June 4.
Sponsored by Kutztown Strong and Kutztown Community Partnership, Kutztown 7th graders organized the event as part of their social studies class. They were inspired by the work of Hallmark artist Lynn Giunta.
âOur goal is to celebrate the graduation of the seniors and to spread hope for the future,â said 7th grader Alyssa Heffelfinger.

âWe wanted to congratulate the seniors and all that they went through,â said Haven Fegely. âWe want to send a message of congratulations that they finally made it this far in their learning journey.â
Kutztown Community Partnership s Art Extravaganza is a student art exhibition that runs through May 1. KCP transformed its office space into an exhibition of art from the art students of the Kutztown Area School District. The community is invited to view the display at KCP, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
