Border Force intercepted 285 migrants in nine small boats attempting to cross the English Channel on Sunday, including at least five young children who were too young to walk themselves ashore.

As the total number of boat migrants passed 10,500 this year - 2,000 more than the 8,417 who arrived in the whole of 2020. But hundreds who arrived in the UK have gone missing.
