RUTHERFORDTON — Housing shortages in Rutherford County and throughout the region have been a problem, hindering economic growth, for years.

Stacker ranked over 900 counties in the 10 coldest states in the continental U.S. to find the warmest based on average temperature between May 2022 and April 2023, citing National Centers for Environmental Information data.

McDowell County and surrounding counties are now under a flood advisory until 7:30 p.m. today. And emergency officials gave a report about flooding and downed trees in McDowell County.

McDowell County and much of western North Carolina will be under a flood watch beginning Tuesday morning and lasting through Thursday afternoon.
