A project to completely revitalise the Miles CBD is a step closer to fruition, with Western Downs Regional Council endorsing the successful contractor to deliver the upgrade.
Council has approved Bellwether Contractors Pty Ltd to construct the new-look Miles CBD which will reinvigorate the town and encourage more people to meet, dine, shop and stay longer.
Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Paul McVeigh said the appointment of the construction contractor signalled the green light for works to get underway.
“This is a really exciting project which delivers on our vision to aggressively attract business and investment opportunities, right across the Western Downs,” Cr McVeigh said.
Community pride will make the Western Downs come alive this Australia Day, as the region comes together to celebrate all things great about our country,.

Rural residents ‘jingle all highways’ this festive season
The Western Downs has been dazzled with Christmas cheer this Christmas, with rural households taking part in the ‘Christmas Where the Gumtrees Grow’ competition.
As part of the competition, Council encouraged rural residents to decorate their property entrances or letterboxes in festive cheer for a chance to win fantastic prizes sourced from local businesses.
Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Paul McVeigh said the initiative generated community pride across the region.
“Christmas is all about our community coming together and celebrating with friends and family and this competition is about spreading the festive spirit far and wide across our region,” Cr McVeigh said.
