Hartmann hired as marketing coordinator position at Great Outdoors Foundation Tuesday, February 16, 2021 3:20 PM Kaitie Hartmann was recently named as the marketing coordinator for the Great Outdoors Foundation. Hartmann will lead marketing and communication efforts for the foundation and the Central Iowa Water Trails. In the newly created position, her role will focus on aligning organizational vision and communication strategy. Hartmann comes to Des Moines from Kansas City, where she most recently served as marketing and events coordinator for the Downtown Overland Park Partnership. Hannah Inman, Great Outdoors Foundation CEO, said Hartmann’s insight and direction will “be crucial as we roll out branding and sites for Central Iowa Water Trails.” Hartmann earned a Bachelor of Science in advertising and public relations from Evangel University in Springfield, Mo.

Johnson County cities reflect on challenging 2020 — see what your community's leader said

Northeast Johnson County mayors talked about the highs and lows of 2020 during the NEJC Chamber luncheon last month. While COVID-19 and racial unrest were among the main topics discussed, leaders also previewed upcoming city developments and initiatives like the wayfinding project for Downtown Overland Park (pictured above in a file photo). Northeast Johnson County mayors reflected on 2020 a year notably filled with coronavirus-related challenges at the 2021 NEJC Chamber State of the Cities luncheon last month. The luncheon itself served as an example of a COVID-19 challenge, as the annual event went virtual with an afternoon Zoom call. While racial unrest, the 2020 election and big city projects were all hot topics, COVID-19 sat atop everyone’s list, including Overland Park Council President Kurt Skoog who stood in for Mayor Carl Gerlach.
