Mercedes To Use Turquoise Running Lights To Signify That Autonomous Driving In Use

The marque’s conditional automation system, Drive Pilot, is the first approved for operation in the U.S.

Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will use turquoise marker lights to signal that vehicles equipped with Drive Pilot are operating autonomously.

Mercedes is the first to get approval to add a fourth color for lights on cars - turquoise blue to show the vehicle is driving itself. The company has more advanced self-drive cars than Tesla.

Turquoise lights will tell other drivers when a Mercedes is running the company's new self-driving feature called Drive Pilot.

Mercedes-Benz cars will notify surrounding drivers when the Drive Pilot automated driving function is active.

Mercedes wants integrated turquoise lights to be the universal sign for autonomous driving.

California and Nevada have approved a test of the new light color.
