Le Duc Tho, Vietnamese politician who, acting as a special adviser to North Vietnam, negotiated an agreement with U.S. official Henry Kissinger that resulted in a cease-fire (1973) in the Vietnam War. The two men were jointly awarded the 1973 Nobel Prize for Peace, but Tho declined the honor.
