Person critically injured after falling in central Wellington lift shaft

(File photo) A person has critical injuries after falling in a lift shaft in central Wellington. Emergency services were called to a workplace incident at the Dunbar Sloane building on Waring Taylor St, around 4pm on Wednesday. The Dunbar Sloane building was being strengthened to 100 per cent of the New Building Standard and redeveloped into a shared office space. Wellington Free Ambulance spokesman Dan Whitfield said the person was taken to Wellington Regional Hospital in a critical condition. Two ambulances, a shift manager and Wellington Free Ambulance’s medical director attended the incident, he said.
