After some quiet time following the 2021 NFL draft, the action picks up again this week around the NFL with the release of the regular season schedule followed by rookie minicamps over the weekend.
As is always the case, the regular season schedule unveiling is highly anticipated even though everybody already knows every team s opponent based on the NFL formula. This is just about finding out when those games will take place and, perhaps even more significantly, the number of prime-time games for each team.

It didn t take very long for Bobby McCain to line up a potential new employer after being released by the Miami Dolphins.
McCain was released Thursday after spending the past six seasons with the Dolphins, who made him one of their four fifth-round picks in the 2015 NFL draft. The other three, for the record, were RB Jay Ajayi, S Cedric Thompson and CB Tony Lippett.

We have reached March. Normally, we would be wrapping up the NFL Scouting Combine right now, talking about how fast Prospect A ran or how much Prospect B could bench press. In Covidland, however, there was no Scouting Combine, so there seems to be a hole in our offseason coverage plans.
To fill that hole today, I decided to take a way, way too early look at the Miami Dolphins 2021 roster and try to build a 53-man depth chart for the season. With the free agency period set to begin in a couple weeks and the NFL Draft kicking off in April, there are obviously a lot of additions and subtractions to Miami’s roster still to come. Where I think a new name will be added to the roster, I will add in either “Free Agent” or “Draft” to fill out the 53 players.

The Miami Dolphins signed 12 players to reserve/futures contracts this week, essentially adding them to the 2021 90-man preseason roster. These contracts are authorized for players who are not signed to a team at the end of the season, not for players who have expiring contracts when the new league year begins.
Basically, these contracts are used to re-sign practice squad players to have them available when the offseason training program begins,
All 12 of Miami’s players were on the team’s practice squad. The players are defensive end Nick Coe, safety Brian Cole, cornerback Javaris Davis, cornerback Tino Ellis, center Tyler Gauthier, tackle Jonathan Hubbard, linebacker Kylan Johnson, tight end Chris Myarick, guard Durval Queiroz Neto, defensive end Tyshun Render, quarterback Reid Sinnett and long snapper Rex Sunahara.

The Patriots are leaving the snow-blasted icescape that is New England this weekend to go down and play the Miami Dolphins.
Like most people these days, the Patriots have been stuck inside all year on account of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now they have the snow to contend with.
It can be tough to deal with when you’re trying to get exercise or even just take your dog for a walk. That’s why second-year linebacker Chase Winvovich opted to buy a treadmill for his dog, Zeus.
