If the A-League dished out awards for failing to convert chances and conceding soft goals, Phoenix coach Ufuk Talay says his struggling team would win them both.

“Nobody at the club has played down the enormity of the path ahead of him. “But for us to expect immediate results, given the context of all the challenges with Covid, the scheduling, travelling and the like, is perhaps unrealistic. “Whilst we’d have hoped for that, there has to be a sense of understanding over the (magnitude) of the managerial changes we’ve undergone. “You see that at the biggest clubs in the world: where there is change it takes time for results to come to fruitio...

The competition was fierce, but Scott McDonald's pure strike to find the top-left corner for Brisbane Roar against Melbourne Victory edged out a handful of stunners to claim Goal of Matchweek 7. Graham Dorrans, Besart Berisha, Jake Brimmer and Matt Derbyshire all put their names in contention for the honour as the eight-game Matchweek played out, but as Brisbane ran rampant against the Victory on Saturday afternoon McDonald netted the pick of the bunch with a peach of a hit which sent the...

Share on Twitter United found the back of the net twice but had both goals ruled out for offside while Victory also had wasteful moments in a feisty clash. The game was Uniteds first of four home games at Victorys home ground this season, though a majority of the 7016 fans were in navy blue. Victory rested Robbie Kruse and Marco Rojas enjoyed a scintillating start in the Socceroos central attacking role and should have had an assist on the break in the 10th minute. Rojas controlled ...

Former Premier League defender Ryan Shotton and youngster Dylan Ryan will be given the task of quelling Berishas influence as both clubs aim for a second win...

The restricted program means Shotton is at least a fortnight away from making his Victory debut - which will be the 32-year-olds first competitive league outing since July, when he made his final appearance for Middlesbrough in the English Championship. Victory visit Adelaid...

Brebner believes Gestede “ticked all the boxes” and will add another dimension to Victory’s attacking ranks. The 32-year-old recently played for Middlesbrough in the English Championship and has also represented Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa. Ryan Shotton Last week Melbourne Victory concluded its pre-season business with the signing of Ryan Shotton. The defender has playe...

"After speaking with Grant Brebner, he outlined a very clear vision about the football he wants the team and myself to play, so that made the decision to come to Victory very easy," Shotton said. "Ive obviously played with Rudy Gestede as well, so Im ...
