MAPLE FALLS, Wash. – Whatcom County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a report of a hit-and-run in Maple Falls found a man with multiple serious injuries early Friday.
Paramedics suspected the man had a broken femur, broken ribs and head injuries.
They transported him to the hospital in Bellingham and he was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in critical condition.
Witnesses on the scene in the 6100 block of Hawthorne Place pointed to a man sitting on the ground as the driver of the vehicle that hit the victim.
Deputies identified him as 26-year-old Dylan Wolcott of Bellingham and say he admitted to using heroin, methamphetamine and fentanyl in the hours before the incident.
