WASHINGTON, May 4, 2021 /PRNewswire/ The Wireless Innovation Forum (WInnForum) today announced next fiscal year goals for its 6 GHz Committee and a new web site (https://6GHz.WirelessInnovation.org) that will make the resulting reports and specifications easily available.
FY2022 goals for the group, included in the WInnForum s Operations Plan to be released publicly in May and created in collaboration with the 6 GHz Multi-Stakeholder Group and other standards development organizations, are:
The US Department of Defense (DoD) released the responses to its September request for information (RFI) on how it might lease its spectrum and whether it should own and operate a domestic 5G network. Not surprisingly, most wireless industry players flatly rejected the notion of a nationalized 5G network but some remained open to the possibility of some kind of partnership with the US military. DoD can best meet its needs by relying on commercial networks and partnering with a global carrier, such as AT&T, that can support DoD s 5G operations in the US and around the globe, AT&T wrote in its RFI response in October. The DoD released the responses earlier this month.

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) is in a spot for delays in implementation of a project meant to offer affordable broadband access to rural communities.
This comes on the back of rising demand for broadband connectivity, fueled by the Covid-19, which has seen several Kenyans working and attending school from their homes.
In 2012, CA invited bids from internet service providers to develop pilot broadband solutions under the TV white spaces.
This entailed exploiting unused spectrum freed by the country’s migration from analogue to digital broadcasting.
