I recalled some psychological theory that I encountered in social sciences as we talked about choices. The concept of an “approach-approach” conflict came up. His book, “A Dynamic Theory of Personality,” published in 1935, describes the dynamic between positive and negative outcomes as a perceived result of decision-making.
