Vigil held honoring man found dead outside Des Moines Forest Avenue Library Andrea May Sahouri, Des Moines Register
About two dozen community members gathered in the cold Wednesday night to honor a man who was found dead in a portable toilet outside a Des Moines library earlier this week.
A snowplow driver clearing the parking lot of the north side s Forest Avenue Library found the man s body around 3:10 a.m. Monday. Police do not suspect foul play and are waiting for autopsy results.
Authorities have not yet released the man s identity or official cause of death, but community members said they believe the man was homeless and trying to find shelter during subzero temperatures Monday night.

This week s frigid weather isn t just an inconvenience for Iowans, it s downright dangerous.
Daily lows have dropped each day since Friday, according to the National Weather Service, which recorded a high of 20 that day and a low of 8. Since then, daily lows have been negative 2 Saturday, 5 below zero Sunday, negative 6 Monday and 11 below zero Tuesday. Lows will continue to dip through the weekend, when NWS says it ll be negative 17 both Saturday and Sunday and wind chills could reach 30 below zero.
