Harvard saw the number of students submitting early applications decline by 17% from a year ago as the college remains mired in controversy over its handling of antisemitism.

The early admission applications were due November 1, before Harvard President Claudine Gay testified in Congress.

Of the 7921 applicants this year, 692 were selected which is only marginally less than the 722 students accepted in 2022. 

A pool of 9,553 students applied under the early action program with 722 accepted.

Harvard College today accepted 740 students to the Class of 2026 from a pool of 9,406 who applied under the early action program.
