Egg rolling at the Tite Inn in Chadlington in 2001 Picture: Dave Fleming Egg rolling is a popular Easter tradition in Oxfordshire dating back many years. Neighbours compete to roll their hard-boiled eggs along a road or down a hill and in the past egg rolling competition have become popular community events. In 2009 hundreds of people braved miserable weather to show off their prowess at an Easter egg-rolling competition. Up to 300 people gathered at Oxford’s Shotover Country Park to take part. Egg rolling events have also been held at the Earth Trust at Little Wittenham, where Wittenham Clumps can be found.
