Says right now its all about thoughts and prayers for the Parker Police or excuse me for the Douglas County deputy who was shot and remains in Critical Condition as he undergoes surgeon right now. It is unfortunate circumstance. Right now the biggest concern is one of my deputies, we want to make sure that this deputy comes out of this surgery okay. I know he is in really good hands and so i asked community to stop and say a prayer for him if you would be so kind. And just to clarify this was a call initially responded to by Parker Police but Douglas County also responded to this once they found out about the severity of the situation. Adele, Big Community response here as well. Not only were there several schools that were recommended for lock down. We know Sierra Middle School was definitely put on a lock down and so was the hospital as as well. The deputy is not being named because the family has not been notified at this point. Thats right. Its just a steady rain and wind through south carolina, north carolina. The outer banks. And eventually its going to move along the coast here of north carolina. And then into virginia. And there you see Tropical Storm warnings in effect. But i do have this report now on and where its going right now. Reporter Tropical Storm hermine roared into charleston, south carolina, bringing wind gusts more than 50 miles per hour. We are expecting serious winds, serious rainfall that can lead to flash flooding. Reporter the storm made landfall over night near the Florida Panhandle as a category one hurricane. The first for florida in more a 7 foot storm surge and several inches of rain flooded streets, downed trees, knocked out power to more than 100,000 residents. The Sheriffs Office identified 40yearold Randall Rodick as a man who shot and critically injured a detective. The shooter was then killed by other officers. Reporter 2 30 p. M. , the first calls come in. Hes in the basement now, loading his ak47. Reporter moments later deputies respond saying theyre on their way. Deputies say they spot the man, identified as 40yearold Randall Rodick. Dispatchers ask if they should lock down a nearby middle school. Reporter less than 10 minutes later, deputies say rodick fires a single shot. The deputies are warned to reporter almost 20 minutes later, deputies say rodick gets into his rv and starts to leave reporter less than two minutes later, rodick starts firing at deputies.
