SANTEE
The Santee City Council says it is on board with plans proposed by a subcommittee of its Community Oriented Policing Committee to help the city become more inclusive.
The council unanimously agreed Wednesday to move forward on goals focused on creating a community that promotes diversity, equality and inclusion.
The city has already implemented in-house actions to take stock of any inequities in its own departments, including law enforcement. Santee contracts with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department for public safety needs.
The subcommittee’s plan will assess inequities in Santee, identify community values relating to inclusivity, and explore how the city can share the information with the community in measurable and sustainable ways.
