August 4 UPDATE: Due to large-scale rain events in Eastern Alpine County, the Alpine County Unified Command was notified by the California Department of Transportation that Highway 89 will be closed to all traffic from Turtle Rock Park to Markleeville until further notice. Access to Markleeville will be through Monitor Pass for residents.
