Wicklow owners of non-essential retail stores were disappointed at having to face yet another lockdown but were understanding of the reasons behind the Government's decision.
The 'full-scale' lockdown will extend beyond January unless there is a sudden decrease in the spread of Covid-19.
Grace Murray, the owner of Ebony Boutique, wasn't surprised by Wednesday evening's announcement of another lockdown and speaking on Thursday, she said: 'We totally expected it. It's the right thing to do if we want to get the rising numbers down. Personally, I think we should all shut down for a couple of weeks until we get a handle on the rising number of Covid cases. We were closed completely for the first lockdown but operated a click and collect service during the second lockdown. We are still waiting to see what we will do regarding this lockdown. I think we will probably wait for a week or so and then start a click and collect service.'
