I have a fundamental, genuine confidence that my bank will protect my money and that my cell phone service will provide the connections I need. I have a sincere confidence that my healthcare provider will give me honest information and care based on scientific research. I believe that banks, phone companies, doctors and scientists have my best interests in mind. In our complex world, having confidence in the people who are experts in their fields makes my life easier.

This week in history in Douglas County.

Merle "Skip" Hall, a 1962 graduate from Jefferson High School, was a three-sport standout and played quarterback when his team won the Resort Region Conference championship.

Katie Girard purchased the business from her dad, Ron Carlson, who bought the business from his dad, Sid Carlson.

Dennis Conn's name will still be on the ballot but he said he's decided not to run for the office. The two other candidates for the position, Sandy Susag and Laura Knudsen, respond to Echo Press questionnaire.

The Business & Industrial Appreciation Day event was started in 1984 and is recognized as one of the largest and longest-standing events of its type in greater Minnesota.
