SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Both lanes of US50 over Echo Summit are closed this evening after a massive section of rock fell onto the roadway. Emergency personnel responded at 5:40 p.m. on Thursday, March 3 after calls received about rock the "size of a semi," were received by the dispatch center.

The road closure also comes amid a winter weather advisory warning of heavy snow and hazardous driving conditions in the area.

In Long Beach, showers are likely today with the chance of a thunderstorm before 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
