Dutch people want firm and clear climate policy, says report

The Dutch are generally in favor of a decisive climate policy, even if the interventions are painful. But in return, there must be clarity. Chairman of the National Climate Platform (NKP), Kees Vendrik, writes in his first 'signal report' and a letter to Climate Minister Rob Jetten that the Cabinet would do well to set a clear and firm course.

Bonaire residents and Greenpeace demand Netherlands step up climate change fight

Seven residents of Bonaire, together with Greenpeace, are demanding that the Netherlands enact measures to better protect the Dutch Caribbean island against the consequences of climate change. In addition, they insist that the Netherlands must reduce its contribution to global warming more quickly to become climate neutral as early as 2040 instead of in 2050. Otherwise, it is like "mopping with the tap running.”

TU Delft: Researchers invite all inhabitants of the Netherlands to contribute to climate policy

Share Build onshore wind turbines, raise gas prices or maybe impose a meat tax? What does the Dutch population think about Dutch climate policy? Researchers from TU Delft and Utrecht University will be using a Participatory Value Evaluation (PVE) to invite thousands of Dutch people to contribute their ideas. From 5 (start 10.30) to 14 March, everyone aged 18 years or older can have their say via www.tudelft.nl/klimaatraadpleging. The Dutch government has made agreements with other European countries to do more to tackle climate change. Following the elections, the new government will therefore need to decide on what measures they will take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions such as CO2. Members of the House of Representatives have previously indicated a desire to involve the population in this process.
