DBM releases P500M for Cancer Assistance Fund

The Department of Budget and Management has released P500 million for the cancer assistance fund to boost the health and welfare of Filipinos suffering from the disease, which remains among the leading causes of deaths in the country.

Following a record P5.268-trillion budget this year, the government ramped up the release of its cash allocations to fund various projects, but state agencies had a lower utilization rate in January.

The government has released almost 60 percent of the record P5.268-trillion budget for the year, as it moves to implement programs for various national and local agencies.

The government will prioritize projects that are ready to be implemented next year as it targets to be efficient in budget management amid the still limited fiscal resources.

The government released a record high P4.42 trillion in cash allocations last year, largely to finance education and infrastructure projects and the higher share at the local level, the Department of Budget and Management said.

DBM starts planning for 2024 budget

Just two weeks after the new year, the Department of Budget and Management is now asking government agencies to start preparing their proposals for another record high budget of P5.569 trillion for 2024.
