The South African data centre announcements are coming thick and fast. After yesterday’s news from Africa Data Centres comes another initiative, this time focused on edge services, from Open Access Data Centres (OADC), which plans to launch nine more edge locations in South Africa.

Expects to accelerate its expansion plans.

Open Access Data Centres (OADC), a company that says it has been established to transform the provision of data centre services for Africa, has announced the deployment of what it describes as the continent’s first large-scale, open-access edge data centre environment.

Edge Centres, which provides self-powered off-grid data centres, and, as we reported recently, has announced that it has begun building its first facilities outside Australia, is adding Vietnam to its portfolio.

Indian data centre growth – or proposals for such growth – continues. Late last week saw the news that Indian data management specialist VueNow is, according to local press reports, proposing to build dozens of edge data centres across the Indian state of Bihar, although this proposal is as yet some way from the approval stage.
