Paul Heyman Ties Christian s AEW Debut Into the Edge vs. Roman Reigns Storyline
Paul Heyman has been the consistent highlight of
Talking Smack ever since he joined SmackDown s post-show as a co-host. This week was no exception, as Heyman even managed to connect Christian s surprise arrival in All Elite Wrestling to the ongoing storyline between Roman Reigns and Edge over the Universal Championship. Christian made his surprise comeback after a seven-year retirement during this year s Men s Royal Rumble and even had a reunion with Edge in the ring. However, The Instant Classic then revealed about a month later he had signed a multi-year contract with AEW by arriving at the Revolution pay-per-view last Sunday.

Being labeled a transitional champion in the WWE might come with some negative connotation as it implies that the champion is not expected to hang onto their title for long, but that s before you start really digging into what this designation actually means. Looking at which WWE Superstars fans have deemed as transitional, the scope of their runs is all over the place. You not only have some runs that last for less than a couple of months, but then there s one that happens to be one of the longest runs in SmackDown history.
Report: Edge Wants Match With Daniel Bryan This Year

All signs are still pointing toward Edge challenging Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 37 in April. After winning the Royal Rumble last weekend, Edge can challenge the champion of any of WWE s brands to a title shot at the biggest show of the year. He spent the last week appearing on Raw, NXT, and SmackDown teasing a decision. Though nothing has been announced, numerous reports have indicated that Reigns vs. Edge is the working plan.
That being said, a match with Reigns isn t the only bout under consideration when it comes to Edge and the SmackDown roster. Dave Meltzer reports in this week s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Edge has been pushing for a match with Daniel Bryan at some point this year.
