The meeting brought together workers from the auto, logistics, healthcare and other industries to discuss how to organize a working class counteroffensive internationally against the attacks on jobs.

The strike by 28,000 workers at GM and Stellantis who are still on the picket lines is in imminent danger of being shut down by the UAW bureaucracy.

Gary Tyler, a class war prisoner for nearly 42 years in Angola State Penitentiary, Louisiana, has opened his first solo gallery exhibit of representational quilt work, paying tribute to those who were part of the long struggle for his freedom.

Although the union is now run by Shawn Fain and his “Members United” faction, the UAW is maintaining the ban on the WSWS that was first imposed by Fain’s predecessors.  

The action reveals the closed-in character of the UAW bureaucracy, which fears the growing militancy of rank-and-file workers and any exposure and criticism of its collusion with the corporations.

The meeting was attended by Ford India workers involved in a wildcat strike, Ford workers at the Saarlouis plant in Germany, and Will Lehman, a US Mack Trucks worker running for president of the UAW.

The Socialist Equality Party in the United States held a summer school from August 1 through August 6. It was devoted to an analysis of the major social and political events in the US and internationally since the previous SEP school, held in July of 2019.
