The Harold Hamm Foundation and Continental Resources announced Wednesday a combined $50 million gift creating the Hamm Institute for American Energy at Oklahoma State University. The Hamm Institute’s mission is to educate the next generation of energy leaders — in Oklahoma, the United States and from around the world — cementing Oklahoma’s legacy as a global energy leader.

OSU Career Services has announced Dr. Jeff Edwards, department head and professor of plant and soil sciences in the Ferguson College of Agriculture, as the recipient of the 2021 Career Champion award.

Oklahoma State University’s commencement ceremonies returned indoors Saturday for the first time in two years as Chancellor Allison Garrett of the State’s Regents for Higher Education delivered the keynote address. OSU President Kayse Shrum presided over her first graduation, making the 143rd commencement the first all-female-led ceremony in OSU’s history.

OSU was awarded a $450,000 Aviation Maintenance Technical Workers grant to establish a sustainable training pipeline for addressing the needs and priorities of Oklahoma’s aviation maintenance workforce. These maintenance professionals make up a significant sector of the aviation and aerospace industry that drives Oklahoma’s economic growth.

President Kayse Shrum last walked across the stage in 1998 and now she will be the one giving out the degrees. Dr. Shrum, who became Oklahoma State University’s president on July 1, has already accomplished a number of firsts in her role, but on Dec. 10 and Dec. 11, she will preside over her first commencement ceremonies.

Oklahoma State University is creating a legacy of leadership with the opening of the OSU Hargis Leadership Institute. OSU President Emeritus Burns Hargis, former First Lady Ann Hargis and OSU students will launch the new program with a ribbon cutting ceremony and block party celebration on the OSU-Stillwater campus at 5 p.m. Oct. 14 on the Student Union Plaza.

Oklahoma State University has received funding through the American Rescue Plan (ARP). With this round of federal funding, OSU is awarding the OSU Economic Stimulus Grant-ARP. This grant is less restrictive than previous stimulus grants and is open to all students currently enrolled at least half-time. Funding for these awards is limited.
