The Federal Government, on Sunday, announced that it attracted over $2bn in investments in the renewable energy sector over the past decade.

The REA says over the past decade, it has attracted over $2 billion in investments in the renewable energy sector. 

Malam Mutari Ibrahim, the Director Promotion and Outreach of the agency, said this in a statement in Abuja.

The REA is set to provide support to 250,000 households with initiatives such as electric mobility, mini-grids, and home systems.

The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) said it has provided power to over 7.5 million people including 1.5 million households, delivering 130 Mini-Grid

“The Agency can confirm that recent publications accurately reflect that some members of staff have been redeployed, suspended, or are under investigation due to process deficiencies and a prevalent lack of accountability.”

Their zeal is however misplaced; they should channel their energy into upgrading UBEC and avoid unnecessary costs and bureaucracy.
