Were working on is the track brakes. And as soon as i fish, ramona is going to come up here, because shes the expert in that field. Shes the one thats been driving them for quite some time. Another issue that were also trying to address is the mirrors. The lack thereof in terms of having them replaced. The track brakes, in terms of upgrading them and having them installed is not just a shortterm solution, but a longterm solution by saving money in terms of keeping all of these vehicles from breaking down through the flat wheels. Thats, indeed, good news. Id like to break up ramona to give a little more indepth explanation in regards to the track brakes. Good morning, everyone. Thank you for having me here today. Yes. The issue with the track brakes is something that we are pretty much concerned in terms of safety basically. The track basically we might defer in how we see through different lenses. We see track brakes like a secondary a secondary brake on the trains. Currently the l. R.
From faster presented today. We have been in conversations with them. We do agree that any kind of regional transportation measure will take everyone getting on board, which is why i say im a little bit concerned about the process, more than a little bit corner concerned about the process and we have been having this conversation with stakeholders, so several things, one, i think often with some of the processes we are concerned about regressivity and potential Revenue Sources. No conversation on why, and the polling data, theres some interesting things included, some things i think were not included. No real conversation about other potential Revenue Sources. We have gotten resources to work with the Silicon Valley Community Foundation and some consultants to look at other potential Revenue Sources and we think that should be part of the conversation, that it should not just be a conversation immediately to the sales tax, we have heard several transit agencies, the Board Members expre
Construction sites clean. That was the biggest, biggest concern, and so we made sure in our Construction Contracts that there is a specific condition that they do that, and that inspectors and resident engineers regularly check and make sure there is compliance, ambassadors will inform project managers or resident engineers if we are not complying. We have hired a fulltime person who will manage the program in the m. T. A. Daytoday, working specifically with project managers on developing specific plans prior to construction, so we are ready to go on day one as soon as construction starts. And we are also working with oewd, the point of todays discussion on finalizing some of the technical aspects of the program. So, here is some specific examples of projects, central subway project you just discussed, twin peaks tunnel, probably the first project where we fully implemented the suite of Different Things that we would do in this particular project and the van ness improvement project, s
Washington, d. C. A couple weeks ago to testify before the house highways and transit subcommittee on the topic of pricing strategies. Americas roads. This is the first hearing that the Committee Held to talk about the way to pay for infrastructure. Not only did they discuss the gas tax, the traditional source, which is a declining source, but also explored permile tees, tolling and congestion pricing. So my testimony certainly emphasized the need for more longterm federal funding, in particularly raising the gas tax. But also to be exploring other innovative, diverse sources of revenue as well. On the federal fuel economy standards, as youve seen in the news, the e. P. A. And department of transportation announced new lower standards. Theres a conflict, of course, with our california standards and our stricter requirements. And really pleased that the governor has, along with other 20 other states, filed a lawsuit attorney general has filed a lawsuit to overturn the new rule. Were tra
This is more of an oewd thing, if a landlord needs to do the seismic retrofit work, maybe it happens, maybe they know up front so they can stage it during some of the worst time of the construction, something to think about, its a little more complicated. If somebody is planning a giant project anyway, good time to do it. Yeah, i know one of the challenges in general with the seismic work, there was not a requirement landlords put anything in the leases to tenants about that. So, us being better than that standard would be great. Mr. Rose, im leaning towards the grant loan mix as being sort of a preferred option. Is there anything about that, that we should know that wouldnt be seems giving people more options is going to be better. Anything about that that is a drawback to it . I think the only the reason that we recommended it up front was because again we want to consider this to be at least to have a sustainable source and something longterm citywide we can consider how to keep it
