Chief Paul Neudigate gave an update on the Edwin Drive shooting that killed a 15-year-old girl and injured an 18-year-old man, and he reported that five of the seven homicides in Virginia Beach involved minors.

The 15-year-old girl killed in the shooting near the Mount Trashmore Summer Carnival was a student within Virginia Beach City Public Schools.

The incident began with a fight in the park's summer carnival area that was broken up by law enforcement officers. It was later resumed in a nearby parking lot, where the shots were fired.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Monday along South Independence Boulevard, between Edwin Drive and Holland Road, Virginia Beach police said.

The Virginia Beach Police Department say they are looking for witnesses in an abduction/kidnapping case.
