A Northern Cheyenne tribal member, Harris was killed in 2013. Now, her birthday is a national day of awareness for missing and murdered Indigenous people, but Great Falls doesn t always recognize the day.

I remember accepting it. I thought OK, this is the way the world is, she said.  In college, Snow needed money to pay bills, so she started registering voters with Western Native Voice. Little did she know, the experience would launch her career in politics.  Since then, Snow has worked as an organizer for Western Native Voice, she was the first Indigenous woman in Montana to be a full-time lobbyist and she served as the Native vote program director for the Montana Democratic Party.  The experience really showed me that you don t have to come from a family of politicians or voters. You can get involved at any time, and anyone can do this stuff. I started to realize that we re all capable of changing our stories. It just took me a while to realize my potential to make that change, she said.
