Mercy mission rescue flights will arrive in Rhodes and Corfu this morning to save British holidaymakers desperately trying to flee the fire-ravaged Greek islands.
Terrified British tourists stranded in Rhodes are making desperate calls for help after wildfires led to thousands of them being evacuated from their hotels.
Abi Davies, who is on the island in a party of six which includes boys aged four and six, says they ve been left petrified after they were forced to walk five miles in 42 degree heat to escape the flames.
Tourists have described the scenes as apocalyptic as they battle through the terrifying infernos on the Greek island which have triggered the country s largest disaster evacuation in history.

HAVERHILLâ The Whittier Tech Educational Foundation has launched its annual holiday fund drive to support students and families facing hardships over the holidays.
The fund provides an opportunity for community members to give to Whittier Regional High School students and their families who are in need during the holiday season.
Donations pay for grocery store gift cards, clothing, gifts for students and siblings, and essential items if a student has an extenuating circumstance. The fund helps students and families in need not just during the holiday season, but throughout the year when needs arise.
While any amount you can give will help, three suggested levels of giving are: $75, Adopt a Whittier Student; $175, Adopt a Whittier family and $300, Holiday Hero. Visit the donation site at foundation.whittiertech.org.
