MUMBAI: A Mumbai lawyer Ahmed Abdi has now sought orders from Bombay High Court to direct state to allot 100 acres of vacant land in Pahadi area of Go.
The court had said it would not stop the government from declaring the presently allotted land at Bandra (East) as a special area for a 'public project of vital importance'.
The petition seeks that defecting legislators be barred from participating in House proceedings or holding any constitutional post until the issue relating to their disqualification is decided.

The petitioner Meenakshi Menon, a media and marketing professional and a founder trustee of NGO Vanshakti, has claimed that this provision was used by politicians for group defections and voters are betrayed because of such unabated group defections.
