JERSEY CITY, NJ - A resolution sponsored by Councilman James Solomon encouraging the city to stop investing pension funds in companies that deal in fossil fuels and approved by the city council Thursday quickly became fodder for the November election, when Solomon’s political opponent, Jake Hudnut, labeled it “grandstanding.”
“The resolution sponsored by Councilman Solomon last night may look nice in a headline or a tweet, but in reality, it’s nothing more than a symbolic piece of paper that fails to address the very real issues we are already facing from the impact of climate change,” Hudnut said in a statement.
