Mangaluru, Sept 13: The Karnataka Government has directed officials of Dakshina Kannada and other districts bordering Kerala to strengthen fever surveillance. Meanwhile, it also asked people not be panic about the outbreak of Nipah in Kozhikode in Kerala.

The petitions had claimed that Revanna indulged in election malpractice and did not declare his assets to the Election Commission.

The election of JD(S) Member of Parliament from Hassan, Prajwal Revanna, was declared null and void by the High Court of Karnataka on Friday.

The High Court of Karnataka declared the election of JD(S) Member of Parliament, Prajwal Revanna, as null and void due to election malpractice and non-declaration of assets. The court also directed the Election Commission of India to take action against Revanna and his family members. The petitions filed by a voter from the constituency and the BJPs defeated candidate claimed that Revanna had indulged in corrupt practices.

Prajwal Revanna is the grandson of JD-S patriarch and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, and is the only candidate from the party to have won the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka in 2019.

The High Court has also directed the EC to take action against Prajwals father H D Revanna (MLA and former minister) and brother Suraj Revanna (MLC) for election malpractice.

Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, won the Hassan seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Prajwal Revanna is the grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, and is the only candidate from the party to have won the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka in 2019.
