At least three persons, including a child, were killed and two others injured after they were attacked by a herd of wild elephants in Assam's Goalpara district on Thursday, said Dhruba Dutta, the forest range officer of Lakhipur.

The elephant was standing right behind the bride and the groom and attacked the mahout.

The victim Khankhani Nagsia was trampled to death by an elephant when she went to her paddy field for some work, she said. The elephant is part of a herd of tuskers roaming in Rajpur forest range, the official said. Chikkamagaluru: Police have arrested a few villagers on Monday for attacking the Karnataka BJP MLA MP Kumaraswamy who was on his way to visit the family of a woman who died after being trampled by an elephant, IANS reported.  The BJP legislator was thrashed by the angry villagers near the Hullemane Kunduru in Mudigere on Sunday.
