The other morning, I read the revelations that Blake Bailey, author of a new, highly acclaimed biography of Philip Roth, had been accused of “grooming” young girls when he taught at a New Orleans middle school in the 1990s, then going on, allegedly, to grope them, and rape two of them when they were adults.
