The Tennessee Senate approved two Republican-sponsored bills that would expand or clarify eligibility for students to receive private school vouchers or enroll in charter schools.
The Tennessee Senate on Monday approved legislation allowing privately operated public charter schools to enroll up to 25% of their students from outside the local public school district where they operate while also limiting the number of children of administrators and teachers attending a charter to no more than 10%.
Tennessee charter schools in Hamilton County and several other school districts could enroll up to 25% of their students from outside the local public school district under a bill set for a state Senate floor vote Monday.
